About Dr. Davis
He has spent a lifetime answering hard calls. Now he writes about what remains after them.
Dr. John A. Davis is an author, licensed mental-health counselor, educator, and retired Fire Captain/Paramedic. As a firefighter, disaster responder, and crisis-intervention officer, he spent decades moving toward moments when other people needed help most.
He leads multi-location behavioral-health services in Northeast Florida, and his service has included disaster medical leadership and state medical-response planning. His background includes extensive training in emergency management, disaster medicine, critical-incident response, hazardous materials, and behavioral health.
That lived experience informs everything he creates: the memoir The Fire That Followed Me Home, the fire-rescue thriller Fireline Protocol, and his writing for responders, families, clinicians, and communities learning how to live with what service can leave behind.
His work is grounded in one conviction: strength is not silence, and there is still a way forward.
